It’s for good reason that the good-old-fashioned, pull-out-drawer tackle boxes are not nearly as common as they used to be. Set up from new, they’re terrific, but for anglers who like to cram 5 million lures into one tackle box, they were fraught with danger…hooks would jam at the back, drawers would not close or open due to obstruction, and sometimes you’d open one drawer and three would come out.
Don’t get me wrong as they still have their place and are great for newchums to the lure-fishing game and for bait fishermen who can throw a few sinkers in, some swivels, perhaps a squid jig or two, hooks of course, just half a dozen lures and other sundry paraphernalia. However, there are just so many barra, bass and bream lures on the market nowadays (there are 100 bream lures just in our guide in the issue) that orderly, contained and unable-to-escape storage are so important to a successful day’s fishing. Basically, the very serious lure fishos amongst us (and our readership is definitely huge on serious lure fishos) need “professional” storage. It’s for that reason that the whole Plano Guide Series evolved. I mean, who would need professional lure storage more than a professional fishing guide.
