Barramundi are one of Australia's most iconic sportfish. Every year in February, March and April, anglers from all around the world come to Australia's top end to fish the run off for Barramundi.
The run off occurs after all the water from the wet season begins to drain off the flood plains back into the rivers and with it all of the baitfish, which in turn creates ideal conditions for barra to ambush their prey.
Barramundi are great fun to catch with the added bonus being a top table fish. They can grow to over 140cm in length, but any fish over the magic metre mark is considered to be a trophy fish.
